Homework for Tuesday, 8/27

1)According to Alex Reid, what are the benefits of doing an online blog for a writing class? What are your feelings about keeping a blog, good and bad?

According to Alex Reid, there are many positive reasons why someone should create a blog for their writing class. The first benefit concludes that having a writing blog helps college level students to experiment with different writing styles, and to eventually develop intrinsic motivation for writing. The second reason includes that the college student is in control of their blog, they can virtually change anything they want about their blog, and this behavior helps the student to set positive goals for themselves. The final reason for doing an online blog for a writing class is again motivation, while creating motivation through a blog, a student can translate that motivation into academic writing, for example another class.

I personally feel that keeping a writing blog in the end will be a great thing for me. Right now I am very spectacle about keeping a writing blog for both good and bad reasons. The good thing about keeping a writing blog is the motivation factor, and I feel like I would definitely benefit for that. Just sitting down writing this blog post makes me feel motivated because I can write in my own style, and I love that. After awhile however, I feel like blogging will become boring and would eventually not motivate me anymore. Time is my friend in this situation, so we will have to see in the future how I feel about keeping a blog, but right now I love it!
